Implant reconstruction of anterior dental discontinuity defects requires surgical expertise and restorative artistry. This treatment concept has been demonstrated to produce successful and predictable outcomes. [1, 2] By combining immediate extraction, immediate implant placement, and fabrication of an immediate screw-retained provisional crown, the surgeon controls gingival contours and ensures a favorable healing environment in the peri-implant space by avoiding the use of cement. Furthermore, use of an immediate screw-retained crown necessitates placement of the implant in a palatal position. This helps the surgeon to avoid an incorrect labial angle and the restorative difficulty that may result.
This presentation will demonstrate a step-by-step technique for immediate implant placement and fabrication of a screw-retained prosthesis in the anterior maxillary arch. Case selection and surgical criteria will be presented, in detail, in order to produce consistent and predictable results.
