Immediate implant placement and immediate provisionalization procedures have gained popularity because of the expected reduction in treatment times and the number of surgical interventions. A recent systematic review of the scientific evidence supports immediate implant placement as a predictable procedure. Despite the high success achieved with osseointegration of immediately placed implants, esthetic complications and failures still occur. This lecture will focus on all aspects of immediate implant placement, with emphasis on esthetic complications, their prevention, and their management.
