Synopsis

Amniotic tissue, which is non-immunogenic and suppresses inflammation, is rapidly being adapted by clinicians across medicine, including to stimulate healing when treating diabetic ulcers, osteonecrotic bone, tendon and muscle tears, as an adhesion barrier, and to protect and repair nerves. Snoasis Medical (Denver, CO) helped invent, and holds the world-wide dental-oral maxillofacial license and distribution rights for BioXclude™. It is the only membrane that contains both the amnion and chorion layers of amniotic tissue. In guided bone regeneration, BioXclude provides the benefits of a growth factor and an occlusal barrier. The membrane is thin and extremely adaptable, does not require trimming, may be place over exposed roots and fold over itself, and primary closure is not required. As a growth factor, the membrane provides a biologically active scaffold, which hastens cell migration, and releases soluble growth factors over time, which recruit progenitor cells, and help promote angiogenesis. Attendees will learn the scientific principals supporting the use of BioXclude, how to take advantage of the tissue’s physical properties, introduce new, less invasive surgical techniques, and review clinical data supporting the use of this important innovation to enhance predictability and esthetic outcomes in dental-oral maxillofacial surgery.
