Loss of soft tissue in the esthetic zone often leads to compromised implant esthetics. In order to avoid such complications and to properly treatment esthetic implant cases, the following knowledge of is required:
1. The nutritive role that soft tissues play in the maintenance of underlying peri-implant crestal bone levels and bone graft volumes thereby avoiding the development of destructive microbiomes;
2. The interdependency of soft and hard alveolar ridge tissues; and
3. The anatomic determinants required for favorable esthetic implant outcomes. Through case presentations, participants will explore risk factors for loss of esthetic soft tissue and introduce diagnosis and treatment planning protocols to prevent and treat esthetic implant complications.
- Discuss the nutritive role that alveolar ridge soft tissues play in the maintenance of underlying peri-implant crestal bone and bone graft volumes;
- Identify the anatomic and biologic interdependency of soft and hard alveolar ridge tissues; and
- Recognize the minimum soft and hard tissues anatomic determinants required for achieving and maintaining favorable long term esthetic implant outcomes.
