Medical emergencies do occur in the Oral and Maxillofacial surgery offices in patients undergoing surgical procedures with intravenous sedation. This lecture will discuss management strategies and different methods of ventilation and oxygenation of sedated patients who become unconscious.
- Perform basic airway management techniques to provide ventilation and oxygenation;
- Apply advanced airway techniques; and
- Have a strategy (Plan A, Plan B and Plan C) in managing the airway of an unconscious patient.
