Current advancements and improved technology in Implant Dentistry have significantly enhanced the clinician’s ability to provide quality care at a higher level and improved predictability with implant therapy. The advancements associated with software planning programs, CADCAM-generated surgical templates and restorative materials have provided clinicians the ability to improve treatment outcomes for their patients. This presentation will focus on:
1. Developments in diagnostic equipment and computer software planning programs that may assist in improving clinical outcomes.
2. Improvements in surgical techniques and principles to minimize trauma and manage soft tissue contours.
3. Improvements in prosthetic techniques and principles to permit immediate loading.
4. Understand where mistakes can be made resulting in adverse outcomes with guided surgery.
A review of the improvements that have been introduced in the field of Implant Dentistry will be highlighted and specific areas that will be addressed and discussed will focus on avoiding and managing complications when using guided planning, guided surgery and guided prosthetic restorations to obtain long-term success for their implant patients.
