Insufficient bone volume is a common problem affecting dental implant placement. Subsequently, bone graft reconstruction is often required as part of the dental implant treatment plan. These bone grafts can involve the use of autogenous, allogeneic and xenogeneic bone. This presentation will examine the long-term fate of bone grafts used to facilitate dental implant placement, and specifically how these grafts resorb over time.
- Review various bone graft materials used to reconstruct the maxilla and mandible to prepare those sites for dental implant placement;
- Describe how each of these materials half; and
- Review the resorption patterns of autogenous, allogeneic and xenogeneic bone graft materials.
