This session will focus on common ethical challenges encountered by healthcare providers in general, and oral and maxillofacial surgeons specifically. Case scenarios will span the full scope of professional ethics from personal and professional conduct to bioethical questions.
- Identify personal behaviors that may impact professional licensure and practice;
- Discuss the concepts of competency, consent, guardianship, emancipation, and Good Samaritan principles and their potential impact on professional practice; and
- Describe the principals involved with end-of-life issues, grafting materials and other biomedical/ethical concerns.
