Reconstruction of the facial skeleton is a core competency of our specialty. Sophisticated concepts and refined surgical techniques in the use of autogenous grafts provide a variety of approaches that can repair almost any skeletal defect. This presentation reviews the state-of-the-art in regenerative strategies in skeletal reconstruction and discusses potential avenues to enhance biological function and clinical success.
- Apply the principles of enhance of tissue regeneration;
- Describe the current state-of-the-art in clinical application of regenerative strategies;
- Discuss the reasons for limited clinical success in the application of regenerative approaches in skeletal repair in oral and maxillofacial surgery; and
- Explain the reasoning for algorithms of more comprehensive strategies and how these approaches can contribute to the conquest of current limitations in of tissue regeneration.
