OMSNIC/ROAAOMS Resident Educational Symposium: From Residency to Private Practice

Friday, October 2, 2015
7:30 AM-9:30 AM
Location

This is a non-ticketed session.
CDE/CME Offered: No CE Offered

Synopsis

At the Spring Symposium, Dr. James Q. Swift, Chair, OMS National Insurance Company, focused on potential issues related to litigation as a resident through a case presentation. The program ended at a critical phase of the litigation process: discovery. During discovery, the defendant OMS is questioned by a skilled attorney and asked to provide an account of the events leading to the plaintiff’s alleged injury.

Join us to watch a simulated legal deposition where the defendant OMS, played by Dr. Andrew Read-Fuller, current ROAAOMS President, is deposed. An attorney with several years experience in defending OMS claims will play the part of the attorney and demonstrate, with the help of defendant Dr. Read-Fuller, how your patient record can either help or hinder your defense.

Learning Objectives
  1. Learn how to prepare for a deposition and how to be an effective witness on your own behalf; and
  2. Realize that a well-documented chart can provide critical protection to you, as the defendant, during litigation.
