    Synopsis

    The speaker will present a new optically guided surgical system that utilizes optical and has two components: A surgical image viewing system that improves the view of the surgical field and a dynamic image navigation system. Implementation steps will be reviewed, including image acquisition, treatment planning, patient and instrument registration, and surgery.

    Learning Objectives
    1. Distinguish between dynamic and static image navigation surgery for dental implant placement and what the current literature states regarding their accuracy and clinical outcome;
    2. Identify the indications and challenges for using an optically guided surgical system and the challenges for its use; and
    3. Identify the treatment sequence required to utilize an optically guided surgical system for dental implant placement, including image acquisition, treatment planning, patient and instrument registration, and surgery.
