Synopsis

The speakers will present the surgical procedures most frequently used to repair cleft lip and palate deformities. A simple step-by-step approach to the primary repair of the unilateral and bilateral cleft lip will be demonstrated, followed by different revision techniques, including the procedures utilized in the correction of the whistle tip and nose/lip (bilateral clefts) deformities. Different palatoplasty techniques will also be demonstrated.

  1. Discuss the incidence and anatomy/physiology of the cleft lip/palate deformity;
  2. Identify the procedures most commonly used to surgically repair cleft lip palate/deformities; and
  3. Explain the timing and procedure most commonly utilized to surgically repair the cleft palate deformity.
