This course is sold out.This four-hour anesthesia workshop for oral and maxillofacial surgery assistants allows for hands-on clinical training in assisting OMSs with the administration of anesthesia. Participants will rotate through six stations to include airway management, intubation, venipuncture, defibrillation, preparation of emergency drugs and mini-code. Furthermore, registrants will be exposed to various airway adjuncts, critical cardiac dysrhythmias and defibrillation, and the use of the peak flow meter and glucometer.
- Recognize airway obstruction, describe its management and utilize the principal airway adjuncts;
- Recognize critical cardiac dysrhythmias and demonstrate appropriate management with medications and defibrillation technique;
- Explain the importance of team management of office emergencies; and
- Demonstrate the preparation and administration of emergency drugs and use of diagnostic devices such as the peak flow meter and glucometer.
