Registration for each anesthesia assistants course is separate from Dental Implant Conference registration. Registration for one does not secure registration for the other. Dental Implant Conference registration is not required to attend the Anesthesia Assistants Skills Lab or Anesthesia Assistants Review Course.

Synopsis

This course is sold out. This four-hour anesthesia workshop for oral and maxillofacial surgery assistants allows for hands-on clinical training in assisting OMSs with the administration of anesthesia. Participants will rotate through six stations to include airway management, intubation, venipuncture, defibrillation, preparation of emergency drugs and mini-code. Furthermore, registrants will be exposed to various airway adjuncts, critical cardiac dysrhythmias and defibrillation, and the use of the peak flow meter and glucometer.

Learning Objectives
  1. Recognize airway obstruction, describe its management and utilize the principal airway adjuncts;
  2. Recognize critical cardiac dysrhythmias and demonstrate appropriate management with medications and defibrillation technique;
  3. Explain the importance of team management of office emergencies; and
  4. Demonstrate the preparation and administration of emergency drugs and use of diagnostic devices such as the peak flow meter and glucometer.
