Synopsis

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) recognizes the growing problem of pharmaceutical controlled substance diversion throughout the United States, but cannot effectively combat this diversion alone. The DEA relies on the diligence of DEA registrants in complying with the Controlled Substances Act and its implementing regulations as well as their vigilance in preventing diversion in any form.

Learning Objectives
  1. Understand what constitutes a legitimate prescription for a controlled substance;
  2. Identify controlled substances being diverted; and
  3. Describe methods DEA uses to prevent diversion of controlled substances.
