The plenary session will consider the anesthetic management of patients with obstructive sleep apnea(OSA) as an inpatient or outpatient procedure.
- Describe the unique risks inherent in the anesthetic management of the patient with OSA;
- Describe a variety of outpatient sedation techniques that may be useful in the safe management of the patient with OSA; and
- Demonstrate knowledge of the past and current (evolving) epidemiology of OSA, as well as the pathophysiology (Cardiovascular, Pulmonary,Endocrine) of the disease.
