Synopsis

Complications associated with implant therapy can have a devastating effect on the final outcome of treatment. This lecture will focus on how to identify and avoid potential complications before they arise, and how to manage some of the more common complications that can occur with implant treatment. Emphasis will be given to risk assessment and proper treatment planning principles.

Learning Objectives
  1. Discuss preoperative risk assessment of critical factors associated with esthetic complications;
  2. Consider risks factors associated with peri-implant disease; and
  3. Describe management of the failing and ailing implants (labial tissue recession, esthetic failures, etc.)
