This session will focus on the treatment of extraction sites which may be planned for implant placement. Speakers will discuss the healing events following tooth removal and the effects of different materials placed into sockets on socket healing. The long-term ridge contour changes will be discussed as they relate to material choice and method used.

1. Explain the biology of the healing extraction site;
2. Compare the effects that different grafting materials have on socket healing; and
3. Examine the effect that different materials and methods have on long-term ridge contour preservation.
