    Synopsis

    Forensic Odontology is a section of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences that represents a group of specialized dental professionals from around the USA who help solve and identify cases dealing with mass disasters, ie, 9/11, homicides, missing and unidentified persons, and violent crimes in concert with law enforcement and medical examiner agencies. This presentation will offer an overview of the scope of Forensic Dentistry.

    1. Explain how dental knowledge in the identification of human remains;
    2. Assess the important role X-rays play in the identification; and of remains
    3. Discuss how remains are identified during disasters.
