Forensic Odontology is a section of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences that represents a group of specialized dental professionals from around the USA who help solve and identify cases dealing with mass disasters, ie, 9/11, homicides, missing and unidentified persons, and violent crimes in concert with law enforcement and medical examiner agencies. This presentation will offer an overview of the scope of Forensic Dentistry.
- Explain how dental knowledge in the identification of human remains;
- Assess the important role X-rays play in the identification; and of remains
- Discuss how remains are identified during disasters.
