Synopsis

Achieving comprehensive dental rehabilitation in patients with complex orofacial defects due to malignancy and trauma pose a unique challenge to OMS. Presenters will address how to manage hard and soft tissues of free flap reconstructions, radiated fields, and post-ablative defects to maximize durable success in implant placement and prosthetics.

Learning Objectives
  1. Identify the role of dental and craniofacial implant placement in complex maxillofacial defects;
  2. Describe the management of hard and soft tissues of free flaps and previously traumatized tissues in all stages of dental implant site development, placement, and prosthetic reconstruction; and
  3. Formulate a stepwise approach to achieving durable success in dental reconstruction as it relates to complex defects of the face, jaws and teeth.
