Synopsis

This course is included in the general registration fee and has a maximum of 50 seats. Courtesy tickets are no longer available for this course.
The soft tissue paradigm shift changed orthognathic planning from one based on traditional cephalometrics to one analyzing a facial profile in repose. An exciting newer method is presented that focuses on patients' smiling profiles to discern dentofacial imbalance and establish clear objectives for predictably harmonious surgical outcomes.

Learning Objectives
  1. Describe why a diagnosis based on traditional cephalometrics and the soft tissue repose profile is inadequate;
  2. Explain how analysis of a smiling profile permits effective treatment planning for facial harmony; and
  3. Demonstrate how the facial planes defined in a new way can be used as landmarks to quantify planned changes to the jaws.
