Synopsis

This course will present a systematic approach for evaluating and selecting the most appropriate treatment for adults with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The presenter will discuss the use of questionnaires, diagnostic imaging, interpretation of home and in-lab sleep studies, and an interdisciplinary approach for treatment decisions to improve patient satisfaction and outcomes.

Learning Objectives
  1. Perform comprehensive (subjective and objective) assessments of patients with obstructive sleep apnea by using appropriate sleep history and quality of life questionnaires, and interpret results of new diagnostic imaging studies;
  2. Explain the important phases and measurements in a sleep study, and interpret the results of home and in-lab sleep studies; and
  3. Provide a variety of treatment options and understand the rationale for choosing non-surgical and/ or surgical treatment options
