Reactive arthritis is a common but poorly understood TMJ pathosis, usually caused by bacterial entities. This presentation will demonstrate the common bacterium involved, pathophysiology, and related research studies, as well as the clinical, radiographic, and MRI features. Treatment options will be discussed including medications and surgical management.
- Discuss the bacterium most commonly responsible for reactive arthritis and their mode for joint degeneration;
- Provide methods for diagnosing reactive arthritis and identifying the specific bacterium involved; and
- Treat reactive arthritis medically and/or surgically to provide quality, pain-free outcomes.
