Synopsis

This course has a maximum of 180 seats. Courtesy tickets are no longer available for this course.
Augmentation to restore bone has been the standard for some time. Research has shown that the implant can be less than half the length of the root, and the crown-to-root ratio can be up to 4:1. Should surgeons avoid augmentation if short or ultra-short implants can be used?

Learning Objectives
  1. Determine if augmenting an area or using short implants is in the patient's best interest;
  2. Discuss the scientific principles behind bone augmentations; and
  3. Explain the principles and scientific evidence behind narrow, short and ultra-short implants.
