Synopsis

This session will discuss two treatment options for non syndromic craniosynostosis. Endoscopic-assisted craniectomy with postoperative helmeting therapy and open cranial vault reconstruction are treatment options debated in the literature as to which procedure provides the best long-term surgical outcomes, and which is safest for the children.

Learning Objectives
  1. Discuss which patients with craniosynostosis are candidates for endoscopic-assisted craniectomy with postoperative helmeting therapy;
  2. Recognize the importance of early diagnosis of craniosynostosis in order to provide two treatment options for families; and
  3. Decide efficacy and safety of the two surgical options for correction of craniosynostosis.
