    Synopsis

    This course has a maximum of 150 seats. Courtesy tickets are no longer available for this course.
    Extraction of mandibular third molars(M3s) is associated with inferior alveolar nerve(IAN) and lingual nerve(LN) injury. This course will analyze high-risk anatomic and radiographic M3, variables and concentrate on treatment algorithm and outcomes of extraction with emphasis on IAN and LN injury prevention. CBCT scans will also be used to assess inferior alveolar canal proximity and lingual bone thickness.

    Learning Objectives
    1. Recognize high-risk variables associated with M3s and identify high-risk extractions;
    2. Identify radiographic markers of close proximity of the IAN and M3 on panoramic, and CBCT; and radiographs
    3. Describe management strategies and alternative techniques for M3s.
