This technique reviews 2 cases, a man and a woman who had sub-complete removal of the nose for squamous cell cancer and subsequent cancericidal irradiation therapy.
In both cases, 4 routine 3.5 mm x 8.5 mm dental implants were placed into the flattened piriform rim without any HBO. The nasal bony aperture was widened and 7 mm healing abutments were seated. No teeth were injured by cone-beam confirmation. No tissue grafts were used. 5-to-6 months later a joined triangular metal substructure retained clips for the prosthetic noses. There were no implant failures. 1. Ethunandan M, Downie I, Flood T. Implant-retained nasal prosthesis for reconstruction of large rhinectomy defects: the Salisbury experience.
