Synopsis
Using a computer-aided surgical simulation (CASS) method for orthognathic surgery, surgeons can perform virtual surgery, create a 3D prediction of patients’ surgical outcomes and transfer the plan to the patient at the time of surgery. This new method eliminates problems associated with the current planning methods.
Learning Objectives
- Discuss the principles and clinical protocol of CASS;
- Discuss the advantages, disadvantages and indications and limitations of this technology; and
- Review objective data comparing actual outcomes obtained using this technology.
