Anterior open bite remains a significant challenge to surgeons and orthodontists in spite of the advances made by both professions. Learning Objectives
- Review the biological and physiological consequences of anterior open bite;
- Discuss continued growth, transverse relapse, pre-surgical orthodontic treatment, condyle remodeling, tongue habits, etc. as potentials for relapse;
- Review the surgical principles applied to enhance stability of open bite correction; and
- Discuss counterclockwise rotation relative to stability of open bite correction.
