The diagnosis and management of TMDs are complex and, at times, controversial. This symposium is designed to provide surgeons with the tools they need to care for patients suffering from these complex disorders. The goals of this symposium are to review the contemporary diagnostics and therapeutics, and discuss the long-term outcomes of traditional treatment modalities.

1. Define TMD, and list the differential diagnoses of the disease;
2. List the diagnostic modalities for evaluation of TMD; and
3. Discuss the therapeutic modalities for the management of TMD.
