Synopsis
Vascular Composite Allotransplantation (VCA) has opened up a new era in facial reconstruction. This symposium brings together clinical and research experts in the field of facial allotransplantation with emphasis on three major challenges: surgery, immunology, and psychology. The symposium will consider the current state-of-the-art facial VCA and introduce the role of the oral and maxillofacial surgeon in this multidisciplinary team approach to restore facial esthetics and function in the severely disfigured patient.

- Explain the overall structure of a transplant team formed to carry out a facial VCA.
