CIG on Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Sleep-Related Breathing Disorders
9:00 AM-1:00 PM
Ballroom B (Hawaii Convention Center)
Christopher F. Viozzi DDS, MD

Treatment of the patient with obstructive sleep apnea/sleep-related breathing disorder (OSA/SRBD) remains complicated by morbidity and potential mortality associated with treatment (or lack thereof), the multidisciplinary nature of care from multiple specialties, and the sometimes contradictory evidence available in the medical/surgical literature, as well as by Medico-legal and ethical issues and financial barriers to care. This symposium will include: (1) a presentation by a sleep medicine expert regarding the nonsurgical management of OSA/SRBD (ie, PAP, OAT, medications, adjunctive procedures) and (2) case presentations highlighting different types of surgical complications and how to manage them.
- Apply existing evidence to support medical and surgical treatment of patients with OSA;
- Better manage patients who have complications after surgical treatment of OSA; and
- Develop a more active interdisciplinary practice in the management of patients with OSA.
