Synopsis

The approach to the reconstruction of the cleft lip is as varied as the deformity itself. Variations extend to the manipulation of the cleft prior to repair, timing of the reconstruction and the technique applied. This session will provide a comprehensive overview of these different approaches including presentations by expert surgeons to demonstrate the nuances of individual protocols and operative techniques.

Learning Objectives
  1. Discuss the benefits and disadvantages of presurgical orthopaedics and nasoalveolar molding;
  2. Apply new techniques and variations learned for the repair and/or revision of a unilateral cleft lip; and
  3. Apply new techniques and variations learned for the repair and/or revision of a bilateral cleft lip.
