Synopsis
This session will examine trigeminal nerve injuries using closed case files for detailed review by a panel of specialists in microneurosurgery who will discuss the management of these cases and how alternative approaches may have resulted in different outcomes. An emphasis will be placed upon the appropriate evaluation and management of the nerve-injured patient, and strategies to prevent or mitigate medico-legal involvement.
Learning Objectives
- Assess the nerve-injured patient appropriately and identify the patient needing further evaluation by a specialist in nerve injuries;
- Predict the outcomes of the nerve-injured patient and describe the nonsurgical and surgical treatment options for nerve injuries; and
- Recognize the significant potential for medico-legal involvement with nerve injuries.
