Synopsis

Three lectures will be presented covering the field of simulation in healthcare. Topics will include how simulation is currently being used and how it may be used in the future for OMS; what competency assessment using simulation might look like, and how to achieve better teaching and learning outcomes using established adult education theories.

Learning Objectives
  1. Identify opportunities in professional activities where simulation may be employed for teaching/learning and select the appropriate simulation tool;
  2. Discuss how simulation might be used to access competency in OMS and anesthesia; and
  3. Describe adult learning theories and how they apply to simulation.
