Synopsis

The AAOMS Research Open Forum presents current and leading research to OMS faculty, residents and private practitioners who are interested in participating in and learning about research that will impact the practice of oral and axillofacial surgery. In recent years the forum has provided an opportunity to highlight the most recently convened Research Summits and Clinical Trials Methods Courses. Participants in the May 2014 Clinical Trials Methods Course will develop proposals for conducting clinical trials. Their proposals will be presented, reviewed and critiqued at the 2014 Research Open Forum.

Learning Objectives
  1. Explain the specific proposals presented and how they might participate in the clinical trials that could result from the proposals;
  2. Understand what is involved in conducting a phase-three clinical trial; and
  3. Recognize the value of using clinical trials to assess current and proposed patient care practices.
