Synopsis
Management of a panfacial fracture requires an organized strategy to appropriately manage the individual components to achieve optimum results. The surgeon must be prepared to sequentially execute all procedures necessary to restore form and function. This clinical session will review treatment planning and surgical strategies specific to the panfacial fracture.
Learning Objectives
- Formulate a strategy to approach, reduce and fixate the panfacial fracture in a logical sequence to restore the patient's appropriate facial contours and function;
- Identify a panfacial fracture and its varying component fractures using clinical and radiographic information; and
- Understand the common pitfalls of managing panfacial fractures and associated resultant defects.
