Synopsis

This presentation will discuss the advantages of alloplastic reconstruction in one stage, discuss indications, planning and surgical technique and present a series of patients with long-term follow-up vs autogenous reconstructions.

Learning Objectives
  1. Utilize alloplastic reconstruction in the ankylosed patient and discuss the current indications;
  2. Explain the step-by-step treatment planning and fabrication of a custom prosthesis to treat patients with ankylosis in one-stage surgery; and
  3. Explain TMJ ankylosis and treatment options suported by the literature.
