    Synopsis

    This course will discuss integrative medicine, a practice that combines conventional medicine with alternative or complementary treatments that exhibit evidence of effectiveness. Examples include herbal medicine, mind-body medicine, biological-based practices, mainipulation and body-based practices and energy medicine. Consumer demand for 100% natural products for common health conditions has increased dramatically and these products can be used to enhance or complement conventional drug therapy.

    Learning Objectives
    1. Discuss the differences between integrative medicine and conventional medicine;
    2. Identify the different whole medicine systems with the evidence of effectiveness; and
    3. Explain drug/herbal interactions and the most commonly used herbs and supplements.
