Synopsis
This lecture will focus on the evidence-based identification and management of certain patients who are at a high risk for office-based oral surgery. It also helps the practitioner understand the need, if any, for medical clearance and the associated costs involved.
Learning Objectives
- Identify patients with high risk factors for cardiac and respiratory mortality who may require preoperative medical clearance;
- Perform a quick functional cardiac assessment of the patient during the consultation; and
- Confidently treat medically compromised patients.
