Synopsis

This lecture will focus on the evidence-based identification and management of certain patients who are at a high risk for office-based oral surgery. It also helps the practitioner understand the need, if any, for medical clearance and the associated costs involved.

Learning Objectives
  1. Identify patients with high risk factors for cardiac and respiratory mortality who may require preoperative medical clearance;
  2. Perform a quick functional cardiac assessment of the patient during the consultation; and
  3. Confidently treat medically compromised patients.
