    Synopsis

Maxillofacial surgery has emerged as a highly successful option for management of obstructive sleep apnea. However, a thoughtful, evidence-based management strategy requires a thorough understanding of both surgical and non-surgical treatment modalities. This course will review the available treatments emphasizing an evidence-based approach to management of the patient with OSA.

    Learning Objectives
    1. Successfully manage the patient presenting with a diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea by recommending the most appropriate therapy while avoiding those treatments that are unlikely to be therapeutically beneficial; and
    2. Understand and confidently communicate the available evidence regarding different treatment options for OSA to patients, referring providers, and insurance carriers
