Synopsis

The goal of all practicing oral and maxillofacial surgeons is to treat all patients in an ethical manner. Although core ethical management issues remain unchanged, changes in population demographics, delivery of healthcare and mass media influences necessitate the adaption of core values to the dynamics of modern practice and societal values.

  1. Discuss current ethical concepts that deal with end of life issues;
  2. Apply ethical standards within the dynamics of our changing healthcare delivery;
  3. Discuss the ethical issues associated with an aging population; and
