Synopsis

Oral and maxillofacial surgeons diagnose and treat many pathologic lesions in the course of practice. Most of the entities that are seen are odontogenic in origin. Less often seen are lesions that are not of odontogenic etiology. This symposium will focus on important groups of non-odontogenic lesions that the OMS may encounter in practice. Updates in diagnostic methods and treatment advances will be stressed.

Learning Objectives
  1. Identify the types of non-odontogenic lesions that occur in the head and neck region;
  2. Discuss the radiographic appearance of non-odontogenic lesions, and the similarities and differences compared to odontogenic lesions; and
  3. Apply the treatment strategies and alternatives in the management of non-odontogenic lesions.
