Synopsis

Management of Temporomandibular Disorders(TMD) continues to be challenging and, at times, controversial. Current surgical modalities are most effective when performed concurrently with pre- and postoperative non-surgical therapies. This symposium will provide an update on non-surgical treatment modalities including various medical managements, splint therapy and such innovative therapies as botulinum toxin. The information presented is intended to provide practitioners with new tools or adjunctive treatment modalities in the management of their TMD patients.

Learning Objectives
  1. Describe the indications and treatment outcomes for common medical therapies;
  2. Describe the indications and treatment outcomes for splint therapy;
  3. Describe the indications and treatment outcomes for botulinum toxin; and
  4. Demonstrate an understanding of the techniques for using botulinum toxin.
