Synopsis

Dentoalveolar surgery is the most common surgical procedure performed by oral and maxillofacial surgeons. As all surgical procedures are subject to complications, it is important to periodically review common complications in order to avoid these risks and manage complications. This symposium will discuss the more common complications that clinicians may experience in practice. Diagnostic methods and treatment modalities will be presented.

Learning Objectives
  1. Identify complications that are common following dentoalveolar surgery;
  2. Describe the predictors of alveolar ostitis and treatment strategies to manage it; and
  3. Apply methods and materials used to manage postoperative hemorrhage.
