Synopsis
This presentation will review the evidence-based anatomic, biologic and clinical information required to successfully perform periodontal and periimplant plastic surgery. Clinical procedure presentations, case examples and video footage will clarify the indications and sequencing of periodontal and periimplant soft tissue augmentation procedures with hard tissue grafting and implant placement.
Learning Objectives
- Compare and contrast periodontal and periimplant anatomy and biology and discuss the clinical rationale and principles for performing oral soft tissue augmentation procedures;
- Describe the indications, surgical techniques and limitations of commonly performed periodontal and peri-implant soft tissue augmentation procedures, including gingival and subepithelial connective tissue grafts, soft tissue substitute grafts and pedicle flaps such as the VIP-CT flap; and
- Explain how to properly sequence periimplant soft tissue grafting and esthetic periodontal plastic surgery procedures with hard tissue grafting, implant placement and prosthetic procedures.
