Nobel Biocare USA: Innovative Clinical Practices - Designing for Life

Learning Objectives
  1. Mr.Steve Hurson: This presentation includes a novel demonstration of the loading dynamics on splinted tilted implants. The concept of tilting implants has been documented and scientifically validated as an optimal solution for maximizing patient quality of life with a minimally invasive procedure. But how does it work? Discussion will range from the evolution of traditional full-arch treatment to the contemporary options available today, highlighted by a live technical demonstration.
  2. Dr.Hassan Moghadam: The aim of this presentation is to demonstrate a surgical protocol to treat the severely resorbed maxilla where the alternative would be an autogenous hip graft or zygomatic implants. We use a bilateral sinus lift and floor of nose lift. Implants and bone graft (non autogenous bone) are used. Then a NobelProcera bar overdenture is placed to splint the implants for a removable prosthesis. This is in contrast to the conventional technique. Today, with the advanced biological surfaces, osseointegration can occur in severely compromised sites; therefore, the actual amount of bone required for a successful prosthesis may be less than previously thought.
  3. Dr.Jay Malmquist: We are at a unique period in our profession where dental implant therapy and ancillary treatment has reached tenure and where, for some, a lifetime of experience has been achieved. With recent procedures and technologies, this presentation will illustrate the long-term continuum of patient care and the professional pursuit of evidence-based dentistry. In essence, how does what we know today affect the treatment protocol for patients with respect to the philosophy, “Designing for Life”?
