Synopsis

Surgical endodontic procedures are effective treatment options for failing teeth previously treated by root canal procedures and untreated teeth that have complex coronal restorations. Outcomes have improved significantly over the last decade as improved materials and new instrumentation have changed the surgical technique. This symposium will cover the new advances in the field of surgical endodontics and discuss newer surgical techniques and materials. Outcomes of this treatment will also be presented.

Learning Objectives
  1. Describe newer materials that are presently used in surgical endodontic procedures.
  2. Discuss case selection for apicoectomy procedures.
  3. Develop an improved awareness of indications for grafting the surgical defect following apicoectomy.
