Synopsis

Cosmetic surgery represents an area of potential growth in the traditional oral and maxillofacial surgery practice. Surgeons new to cosmetic surgery can build their practice and skill level by starting with relatively simple techniques such as Botox injections and injectable facial fillers. The development of multiple new injectable materials, including free-fat transfer, has greatly expanded the options available for this form of facial rejuvenation.

Learning Objectives
  1. Evaluate patients for this type of facial rejuvenation, recognizing the anatomic differences of facial musculature and how Botox affects them.
  2. Apply the use of Botox injections to obtain facial rejuvenation.
  3. Utilize multiple injectable materials, anticipating new materials, to fill wrinkles and enhance lip volume and contour.
