    Synopsis

The integrity of the buccal plate in the anterior maxilla has been studied extensively and accepted as a critical factor for the esthetic outcome of the implant restorations. Recently, this notion has been challenged by some clinicians who showed that esthetic outcome can be expected even in compromised buccal plates.

    Learning Objectives
    1. Describe the biological principles of the bone remodeling process on maxillary anterior buccal plates.
    2. Display proper instrumentation to minimize periimplant soft tissue trauma.
    3. Develop a chairside immediate provisional crown to maintain soft tissue architecture.
